WHARF CHAMBERS PRESENTS: RYOSUKE KIYASU // CARNIVOROUS PLANTS // KISSCHASE // DISTRAXI

20th August 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

£4 – £8

Wharf Chambers offers up a matinee of the hinterlands of music. Wild free music snare drum abuse (you might remember off the viral bbc clip) and then a trio of strange noisters from big queer jazz electronics to warm psyched drone workouts

Doors are 5pm – It’s £8 or £4 low or unwaged – no one ever turned away for lack of funds though

Ryosuke Kiyasu

Pushing on the boundaries of music as music (which are elastic but only after a lot of work) Kiyasu has made a name for himself exploring all angles and oppurtunities for expression via snare drum and mic (if needed). Dynamic, feral and utterly materialist it combines the harsh realms of extreme metal drumming with the quietest shufflings of the avant-garde. He’s also a member of Keiji Haino’s band Fushitsusha if that’s your bag

Carnivorous Plants

One of the hardest working soundsmiths down Bristol way Carnivorous Plants acts as a vehicle to steer wide-ranging interests in song and form (whether brittle indie folk or obsidian-tough drone metal) into the wringer of improvisation. Restraint and depth that’ll leave you hovering a few inches off the floor

Kisschase

Queering free jazz one harsh noise wall at a time. Kisschase is a teamup of Blackcloudsummoner and Gender Is the Bastard using wailing sax and black & white collage harsh noise palettes to explore being slutty in a sexy sexy world

Distraxi

Dark industrial grit building and releasing sonic tensionsssss
