While staying at a Swiss boarding school, a teenage girl (played by a 15-year-old Jennifer Connelly) realises she can telepathically communicate with insects. When her fellow pupils are savagely murdered, she uses her strange gift to hunt down the killer. Dario Argento’s fantasy horror is a gruesome fever dream, featuring stunning imagery and a roaring heavy metal soundtrack. Co-starring Donald Pleasence, Daria Nicolodi, and Tanga the chimpanzee. PHENOMENA is rated 18 for strong bloody violence. The latest screening from Such Sights To Show You, a Leeds-based film club dedicated to celebrating the weird, the grotesque and the unforgettable in horror cinema. This screening is part of the Scalarama Leeds 2023 Film Festival, a DIY celebration of pop-up cinema and independent film exhibition.
