DESCRIPTION:This is a special session to celebrate the Seventh anniversary of Seven by Seven! \nIf the weather is fine we’ll be outside in the back yard at Wharf Chambers for this one. And we’ve extended the length of the session to eight hours to fit in as many sets as possible. \n\nAs always:\n\nSeven by Seven is a friendly open decks vinyl playing session. You can bring along and play us seven of your 7” 45rpm vinyl singles – hence Seven by Seven – or just come and listen to others play. The 7” 45rpm format is the only limitation. We don’t dictate the type of music – you can play whatever you want to\, and we relish that variety!\n\n\n\nNo DJ skills are needed\, and our ethos is – no pressure\, no competition\, no egos.\n\n\n\nPlease get there early to put your name down. We draw names out for the running order and later arrivals may be too late to be drawn. We also sometimes reduce the number of records that some people can play if we have high numbers attending – but we do try to fit in as many seven record sets as possible.\n\n\n\nSeven by Seven is a non-commercial operation. We run our sessions purely for the joy of playing and listening to records as a shared experience.

DESCRIPTION:ACIDFEST LEEDS brings acclaimed Brazilian psych-rockers Bike as headliners of this mini psych fest at Wharf Chambers\, featuring three bands and three solo acts that offer a diverse mix of farout sounds. \nBike have toured around the UK and the world with their unique brand of tropical psychedelia\, which found influential fans such as Anton Newcombe (they’ve recorded with Anton and opened for Brian Jonestown Massacre). Always nothings less than brilliant live\, BIKE are for sure one of the best psych bands in activity today. \nThee Lucifer Sams are true visionaries\, refusing to put their music on platforms such as Spotify or having social media. Their mix of semi-improvised psychedelic noise draws equally from the abstraction of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd\, Lemmy’s Hawkwind and Sonic Youth noise – with no songs just a full-on psychedelic rollercoaster of sound. \nThe Dead Zoo are a proudly trans led\, corn fed noisy post-punk band from London\, making their live debut in Leeds. Always putting on an energetic live set\, they are always worth watching. \nMadonovan is the best shoegaze artist you’ve never heard before\, and an unique concept – a tribute to itself\, covering songs written\, but never released\, over 30 years ago. A cathartic ode to lost youth\, dreams and rock’n’roll itself. \nEsa Shields is a truly one-of-a-kind artist\, creating melodies and sounds the likes of which never heard before or since. It’s like Brian Wilson on Mars\, tripping on acid. \nDominoes is a brilliant\, solo artist who’s equal parts Ivor Cutler and Syd Barrett. Rich in melody\, ideas and whimsy\, you are sure to enjoy his set. \nACIDFEST also features a killer\, exclusive psych playlist to keep you in the mood before and after each act\, as well as trippy visuals to create an unique atmosphere.It is more than just a “gig”\, but a true happening. DESCRIPTION:What happens when drag becomes a global phenomenon?\n\nRolling off the back of the Drag Race lorry\, armed with nothing but a RuPeter Badge and a fading memory of the Werk Room\, Marmalade wades into the territory of post show “fame”\, and is left wondering…\n\nWhy did she do that? Why did she go on the show? What kind of impact does the show\, one of that scale\, have on local scenes and their? A show that doesn’t necessarily platform the drag she loves\, and why doesn’t it? What kind of drag does she love? Does she still love her own drag? Why does she do it?\n\nWelcome to Spotlight – a new venue designed\, operated and built by Marmalade herself (it wasn’t\, this is theatre)\, and her chance to explore these questions\, pretend she has answers\, and celebrate the drag and queer artists she loves.\n\n\nDevelopment stages of this show were funded by Arts Council of Wales. Directed by Elan Isaac\, with written material by Priya Hall\, creative support by Leo Drayton\, and produced by Daniel Huw Bowen on behalf of The Queer Emporium\, Marm’s Spotlight is a newly created theatre show by star of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and drag artist\, Marmalade. \nIllustration by cakelikeowen \nCast \n\nMarmalade\n\nMarmalade is a drag artist and seamstress\, who taught herself to sew during the lockdown period caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. She has made outfits for organisations including Frân Wen and National Eisteddfod Cymru\, though she is most well known for outfits made for contestants on the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise. Her sewing recently made her a Guinness Book Record Holder and her outfit\, ‘Marmalade’s Marie Antoinette Drag Ensemble’\, is currently on display as part of the Marie Antoinette Style exhibition at the V&A South Kensington until March 2026.\n\nIn 2024\, she competed on the sixth series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK\, placing in the top four. Since then\, she has performed at notable LGBTQ+ venues and spaces\, including The Clapham Grand\, The Glee Club and Pride Cymru.\n\n\nThistle Thing \nThistle Thing is a sharp-tongued\, high-glamour performer with a love for character\, detail\, and a perfectly timed wink. You can bring along and play us seven of your 7” 45rpm vinyl singles – hence Seven by Seven – or just come and listen to others play. The 7” 45rpm format is the only limitation. We don’t dictate the type of music – you can play whatever you want to\, and we relish that variety!\n\n\n\nNo DJ skills are needed\, and our ethos is – no pressure\, no competition\, no egos.\n\n\n\nPlease get there early to put your name down. We draw names out for the running order and later arrivals may be too late to be drawn. We also sometimes reduce the number of records that some people can play if we have high numbers attending – but we do try to fit in as many seven record sets as possible.\n\n\n\nSeven by Seven is a non-commercial operation. We run our sessions purely for the joy of playing and listening to records as a shared experience.
