DESCRIPTION:ERIC CHENAUX (France/Canada) \nFor nearly two decades\, Eric Chenaux has been gently twisting songs into new shapes. Pairing what has been described by the Guardian as “one of the all-time great singing voices in popular music” with sparse\, metronomic rhythms\, the Canadian artist is capable of conjuring up songs that feel as familiar and well-trodden as standards. It’s through his spontaneous guitar playing and lightly abrasive pedal improvisation that they change\, stretched into something stranger. \nOn a run of homespun records that began with 2015’s Skullsplitter\, Chenaux has started to leave time behind\, letting his songs stay for as long as they please. Vamping on simple\, domestic melodies\, his songs quietly unravel\, tangled up in a kind of diffuse jazz music that stays patient\, lies low\, and drifts away. His guitar makes subtle interventions\, warping the original thought that has carried us this far. \nDrawing on folk\, jazz\, and noise\, Chenaux’s music travels far while holding us in place. Last year\, he released Delights of My Life\, released as a trio alongside Phillipe Melanson and Ryan Driver. For this show\, he’ll be performing solo. \nNIKA TICCIATI\nLeeds-based improviser Nika Ticciati leads on keys in a goopy\, string-snapping performance for three\, reeling along like-minded mavericks Iris Casling and Teruki Chan for additional double bass and drums delirium. \nFONDANT\nA rare outing for this cross-country trio\, traversing beyond the footpath into thickets of poetry\, cello and noise. Since coming to attention when awarded NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2016\, Gaelynn Lea has built a consistent reputation as a joyful force for good and togetherness\, while captivating audiences around the world with her haunting original songs and new takes on traditional fiddle tunes. \nOne of Gaelynn’s biggest passions is promoting Disability Culture. She co-founded RAMPD [Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities] in 2022 and has since connected with d/Deaf and disabled artists globally\, including Ruth Lyon and James Holt in the UK. She has also collaborated with artists as diverse as Michael Stipe\, The Decemberists\, and the industrial rock supergroup Pigface. \nIn 2022\, Gaelynn contributed a bewitching soundtrack to the production of Macbeth on Broadway starring Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga. Now she will be touring the UK for the first time since 2019 to launch her soundtrack album Music from Macbeth\, released thanks to a Whippoorwill Arts Fellowship. The work is meant to be performed and heard live as well as\, time to time\, recorded and shared over the internet. \nJoanne Armitage is a composer\, improviser and researcher based in Leeds\, England\, notable for her practice in live coded music\, and research into haptics in music performance. She performs internationally using the SuperCollider language\, including as half of live coding duo ALGOBABEZ with Shelly Knotts associated with the Algorave movement. Her music is often performed in a club setting\, while embracing error and uncertainty. She is also known as an advocate for diversity in music and technology\, including through invited workshops. You can bring along and play us seven of your 7” 45rpm vinyl singles – hence Seven by Seven – or just come and listen to others play. The 7” 45rpm format is the only limitation. We don’t dictate the type of music – you can play whatever you want to\, and we relish that variety!\n\n\n\nNo DJ skills are needed\, and our ethos is – no pressure\, no competition\, no egos.\n\n\n\nPlease get there early to put your name down. We draw names out for the running order and later arrivals may be too late to be drawn. We also sometimes reduce the number of records that some people can play if we have high numbers attending – but we do try to fit in as many seven record sets as possible.\n\n\n\nSeven by Seven is a non-commercial operation. We run our sessions purely for the joy of playing and listening to records as a shared experience.

Summoning all the fairies and furries for a night of raving rhythm\, rituals and release. \nT40 is fundraising this time for one of our dear T40 Crew’s trans-affirming laser treatment and sending all the rest to local trans surgery fundraisers (if we make enough!).\nThere will be the option to donate extra by cash both on the door and on the bar at Wharf AND we take card donations on the door.\nWe also will be sharing our linktree to local gender affirming gofundmes and our list of Palestinian fundraisers to support in the T40 instagram bio and at the event through QR codes placed around the venue.\nFear not if you cannot donate more as all the proceeds from your tickets go towards paying performers\, venue and the fundraiser recipents- we don’t ever make a profit at T40!\nT40 is a night to celebrate the trans identity by buying a ticket you agree to our rules of mutual aid and mutual respect.
