SUMMARY:Index for Working Musik
DESCRIPTION:Please Please You\, Brudenell & A Geddy Laurance Happening…\n\n\nIndex for Working Musik emerged from the depths of an East End bunker in 2023 with Dragging the Needlework for the Kids at Uphole (Tough Love)\, a “Heroin Country” affair\, followed by the experimental Indexe’e. 2024 saw the release of Purple Born\, an 8-minute track that channels the likes of John Fahey and Polvo—leather boys\, leather girls\, and silly cuckoo clocks—and serves as the first signal of the future to come in 2025. \n“Sexy and contagious” – Sounds of violence \n“It’s original and atmospheric stuff that sounds like something that might have been recorded in The Factory and discovered decades later in a dusty corner of Warhol’s archive; all that’s missing is a surprise visit from Valerie Solanas…” – Tim Cooper \n“Their sound brings to mind John Cale’s drone effects on the early VU albums and the pink noise of the Jesus and Mary Chain” – Louder than War \nSupport from \nVehicle\nEternal Vape\n\n\nWharf Chambers Co-operative Club is a members’ club\, and you need to be a member\, or a guest of a member\, in order to attend. To join\, please visit wharfchambers.org. Membership costs £2 and requires a minimum of 48 hours to take effect.”\n\nGET TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:GERM LATTICE + AUGUSTÉ VICKUNAITÉ + CREEP OF PARIS (Thomas LaRoche) + ANNA PEAKER
DESCRIPTION:GERM LATTICE \nJoe Barton\, Mickey Donnelly\, and Louie Rice met in London during the 2000’s but it wasn’t until they had relocated to Norwich in recent years that they rented a studio in a condemned brutalist shopping centre and the Germ Lattice sound was formed. They began by agreeing what they didn’t want the project to be: no improvising or jamming\, no overdubs\, keep the tracks short etc..\nTheir novel use of microphones and live tape processing add a dynamism to the music where elements mask each other or the overdriven meters suggest the whole thing is on the brink of collapse.\nhttps://horn-of-plenty.bandcamp.com/album/gipping-through-the-ages \nAUGUSTÉ VICKUNAITÉ\nAugustė Vickunaitė is a sound experimentalist who employs vintage reel-to-reel tape recorders to play\, record\, and create sounds\, articulating diverse layers of recordings including found material\, field recordings\, voice\, music instruments\, objects\, and the whole spectrum of malfunctions of decaying technology. Auguste specializes in tape music\, noise\, and collage music\, known for her theatrical and darkly humorous approach\, often exploiting errors of analog audio equipment. Her solo work encompasses tape loops and collages of found audio tapes.\nhttps://archive.org/details/@augustevi\nhttps://youtu.be/bvRfxetWxvc?si=oD6ehpMPOnVorPcr\n\nCREEP OF PARIS (Thomas LaRoche)\nU.K. based Thomas LaRoche/C.O.P (Creep Of Paris) is an insect breeder and second-hand book dealer as well as the main representative of Research Laboratories.\nHis work has been described as “pungent muck”\nhttps://creepofparis.bandcamp.com/album/karaoke-world-i-and-ii \nANNA PEAKER\nSonic collages and experiments created from processed acoustic instruments\, electronics\, and tape machines.\nhttps://annapeaker.bandcamp.com/ \n  \nGET TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:The People's Archive: Book Talkshop with Nydia Swaby\, hosted by Black Feminist Bookshop x Wharf Radical Lending Library
DESCRIPTION:Black Feminist Researcher Nydia A. Swaby leads a talkshop developed in collaboration with Black Feminist Bookshop and the Wharf Radical Lending Library. \nDrawing on the themes at the heart of her book\, Amy Ashwood Garvey and the Future of Black Feminist Archives\, we invite you to reimagine what an archive can be and how we might bring archiving into our everyday. \nTogether\, we will strip “the archive” out of its academic shell to leave its true form: “our story.” The story we will begin to build together is one of Black Political organising in the North. \nWe ask that you bring with you anything you find connects you to the wider collective of Black organising here in the North. It may be a physical object or a video or a picture; a moment of resistance in your life or a whole album. \nFrom this we will reflect on Black Feminist Bookshop and the Wharf Radical Lending Library as spaces for us to both dream and build. And to begin this journey\, photography and audio recordings will document this event\, building an archive of this collective experience: The People’s Archive. \nGET TICKETS NOW

SUMMARY:A-Sun Amissa\, Aidan Baker\, Sulk Rooms
DESCRIPTION:A-SUN AMISSA\nVideo – Live in Cambridge / Listen – Bandcamp / Website – slowsecret.com / Instagram \n\nA-Sun Amissa are a group in a permanent state of metamorphosis\, existing on the fringes of some kind of avant-rock\, relentlessly searching out new angles and new directions to push the noise they create. A sound underpinned and overlaid with drones\, moving in and around a diverse chasm of post-rock\, melancholic doom\, noise and ambient. \nLed by Richard Knox since 2011 and now existing as a trio with Luke Bhatia and Claire Knox\, A-Sun Amissa have a fiercely DIY approach to music that takes in recording\, tour booking\, artwork and putting out their own records via Richard’s Gizeh label that has been in operation since 2004. \nAIDAN BAKER\nListen – Bandcamp / Website – aidanbaker.org / Instagram \nAidan Baker is a classically-trained multi-instrumentalist focusing on the electric guitar as his \nprimary instrument. Using prepared and alternate methods of playing the guitar\, along with various electronic effects\, Baker creates music which generally falls within the ambient/experimental genre but draws on influences from post-rock\, shoegaze\, electronica\, neo-classical\, and jazz. \nA highly prolific artist\, Baker has released numerous recorded works\, both solo and with various \ngroup projects—most notably his dreamsludge duo\, Nadja—and including collaborations with such artists as Tim Hecker\, Carla Bozulich\, Jussi Lehtisalo (Circle/Pharaoh Overlord)\, Ekin Fil\, FM Einheit\, and many more—on such independent labels as Karlrecords\, Southern Lord Records\, Important Records\, Alien8 Recordings\, and Gizeh Records. A frequent live performer\, Baker has toured extensively around the world\, including appearances at such international festivals as FIMAV\, SXSW\, Amplifest\, Unsound\, Roadburn\, and Supersonic. Originally from Toronto\, Canada\, Baker currently resides in Berlin\, Germany. \nSULK ROOMS\nListen – Bandcamp / Website – linktr.ee/sulkrooms / Instagram \n\nA pseudonym of Yorkshire based composer Thomas Ragsdale\, the music of Sulk Rooms draws the link between euphoric electronica and smoke engulfed drones. Slow-morphing textures sequence and cascade\, encapsulating intimate moments of colliding sound amongst fluttering arpeggios and transcending synth builds. \nA predominant soundtrack artist included in many of Adam Curtis’ groundbreaking BBC documentaries as well as scoring BBC true crime series\, Netflix features and Prada commercials\, Sulk Rooms is part of Domino Publishing’s prestigious composer roster. \n\nAtmospheric music for the head alongside the heart\, Sulk Rooms’ music captures spontaneous audio mirages and saturated imperfections within a crushing backdrop of low end and harmonic ferocity. Electric soundscapes and rising techno map Sulk Rooms’ universe where panoramic pulses fuel adrenaline charged synths to feelings of both wonder and unease. \nGET TICKETS HERE
