SUMMARY:H.S.Heron Presents Martin Manning\, TBC \, Gladboy with Art + Lightshow
DESCRIPTION:Avant-Pop\, Hypnagogia\, Queer Punk\, Rock and/ or Roll\nArt and Light show\nGladboy\nGladboy have one of the underground’s most unique and frenetic live shows. Teetering on the edge of collapse\, they are confounding – occasionally ear-piercing – but always melodic.\nThe band formed in 2017\, starting their garage rock racket in a now-demolished eyesore in Norwich. In that time\, they’ve cultivated a prolific live profile\, supporting the likes of Westside Cowboy\, Willie J Healey\, English Teacher\, The Orielles\, Brix Smith Start (The Fall)\, Laundromat\, The Cool Greenhouse and Jeffrey Lewis.\nPress highlights include The Guardian\, Far Out\, DIY Magazine\, as well as BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 6 Music.\nFollowing a sold-out run supporting English Teacher’s sold out album tour for their Mercury Prize-winning debut This Must be Texas\, Gladboy are back with a full length album on the horizon.\n\n\nMartin Manning\nConjured from a dream\, the multi-faceted Martin Manning emerges from our subconscious.\nHaunting the waterways of Yorkshire with harps and broken drum machines\, they recite poetry of the mother hill. These Avant Pop Megastars forge fractured dance music with pop at its hearth\, evoking shades of Cabaret Volatire\, Dean Blunt & Arthur Russell.\n“What a year to be alive\, as Martin Manning turns 45!”\nDraags\nHyper-disassembled queer punk wonkcore is a direct sucker punch to capitalism and the oppressive state. They want everyone involved in a frenzied ecstasy of queer rage and to share a radical message of love and connection.\nConfrontational and deranged but also inclusive and fun fun fun!\n\n\nTickets:https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Leeds/Wharf-Chambers/HSHeron-Presents-Gladboy-x-Martin-Manning-x-Draags/41588094/

SUMMARY:Tulpa\, Live in Leeds (Album Launch)
DESCRIPTION:ulpa are an indie rock band from Leeds. Their sound contrasts detuned and lo-fi guitar textures with hyper-melodic vocals\, creating songs with emotional warmth and sonic intrigue. The group consists of Josie Kirk\, Daniel Hyndman\, Myles Kirks and Mike Ainsley. The band have recently supported Throwing Muses\, Pale Blue Eyes and Bug Club and have recently done a live session for Marc Riley and Gideon Coe on BBC6 Music. \nNot much is known about Tulpa\, they don’t have any songs online yet (Just a live video of the band playing in a chapel in Wakefield) but in the quieter corners of the UK’s DIY festivals and indie venues they amass a following of lovers of noise\, melody and good rock music. Live their songs lean into texture and tone creating a dreamy atmosphere and distortion that feels like a big hug. The songs meander from catchy hooks into tangents of musical experimentation and guitar wizardry.\nTheir debut album ‘Monster of the Week’ is out on Skepwax records this November. It was recorded by Jamie Lockhart ( The Cribs\, Mush\, Drahla). The record is the first ever album to be produced at Jamie’s new studio at Lamigo Bay\, a picturesque and remote region of the Highlands.\nA Tulpa is a mythical being manifested into existence through the act of concentrated thought\, like an imaginary friend brought to life but (sometimes) scarier. The lyrics on ‘Monster of the Week’ sometimes riff on the esoteric\, strange and cultish. More often than not though\, the songs are about the simple stuff – universal emotions expressed sometimes directly and sometimes more abstractly through playful imagery.\nFFO: Breeders\, Pavement\, Yo La Tengo etc.\n\nTickets: https://brudenellpresents.seetickets.com/event/tulpa/wharf-chambers/3474442

SUMMARY:Brudenell Presents... Prostitute
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2020 in Dearborn\, Michigan\, Prostitute is an experimental post-punk and Arab rock band. Born out of the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown\, the band’s debut album\, Attempted Martyr\, was written in the midst of global and personal turmoil\, capturing the zeitgeist of a world unraveling. A loose concept record\, it chronicles the rise and fall of a doomed zealot whose pursuit of holy vengeance spirals into a psychotic orgy of violence\, greed\, and lust.\nThe band was initially formed by Moe Kazra who enlisted childhood friends Andrew Kaster and Dylan Zaranski\, with Ross Babinski and Bret Wall later completing the lineup. Together\, they self-funded the album\, working with legendary engineer Chris Koltay to shape a sound that’s both abrasive and hypnotic—an unrelenting blend of warped guitars\, primitive basslines\, frenzied drumming\, and corrosive synthesizers\, interwoven with samples from diverse cultures\, ranging from African to Middle Eastern and East Asian influences.\nTracks like “All Hail” (inspired by the 1977 Hanafi Siege of Washington D.C.) immerses listeners in a volatile\, hostage-like environment. “Judge” channels Milton’s Satan in a chilling rallying cry\, while “Body Meat” grapples with religious desperation and the tenuous boundary between faith and madness. Khachab and Kaster’s lyrics have been described by Pitchfork as “disturbingly poetic” with the ability to “lacerate with image alone.” Crude sloganeering and scenes of horrific violence are juxtaposed with literary allusion and Islamic symbolism\, creating what the band calls a “theatricalization of terrorism.” Through this lens\, they examine and critique the xenophobic stereotypes targeted at Arabs\, distorting them into grotesque caricatures.\nOver the past four years\, Prostitute has established a reputation for their punishing\, high-energy performances. The band’s live shows\, described as “dangerous” and “volatile”\, finds Moe delivering politically charged sermons atop a deafening bacchanal of sound. In 2023\, Prostitute performed at the re-opening of the iconic UFO Bar in Detroit\, followed by a series of benefit concerts for Palestine\, Lebanon\, and Sudan. These performances solidified their growing presence\, leading to invites to play at No Rest Fest and New Colossus Festival.\nAs Prostitute continues work on their sophomore album\, they are delving deeper into electronic and Arabic dance influences\, drawing inspiration from the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. Their sound continues to evolve\, with new tracks incorporating dabke rhythms\, Arabesque melodicism\, and industrial synth textures\, all while retaining the same anarchic energy that defines their unique sound.\nWharf Chambers Co-operative Club is a members’ club\, and you need to be a member\, or a guest of a member\, in order to attend. To join\, please visit wharfchambers.org. Membership costs £2 and requires a minimum of 48 hours to take effect.\nAge Restriction: 14+ w./ adult\, or 18+ without
