SUMMARY:Evil Sword
DESCRIPTION:EVIL SWORD are Kate Ferencz and Ben Furgal from Philadelphia\, USA. Their chaotic live\nshows combine elements of noise\, cryptic metal overtones\, performance art\, and gallows humor\nand feature macabre props\, flashing lights\, stage sets and costumes. Crashing pots and pans\,\nflashing lights\, literal bells and whistles\, exploding furniture… this parade of dreams and\nnightmares could only be Evil Sword’s new split 12” LP with Miss Pussycat – ’The Skit Split’.\nThese unhinged songs conjure up a world of fairy tale magic and monstrosities in equal\nmeasure. Evil Sword formed on a Halloween\, and now they return to London to work through\ntheir demons. \nRat Pakk: Anarchist queer punk\, bringing you banging tunes\, off yer arse energy and\naggressive\, in yer face\, piss on yer Christmas dinner kinda attitude. Edgy\, political and a live riot.\nThe Leeds-born Clown-Rock band\, on a quest to erase coulrophobia. Nefarious energies\nemanate from this clown crew’s full-force foolery on the stage; join the circus\, be down to clown.\nExpect mosh-worthy riffs\, stupid lyrics\, and an opportunity to commit acts of violence against at\nleast one (1) clown. SLAPPSTIKK loves you. \nAnd finally\, making their live debut\, Brynzizi bringing you an eclectic mix of EDM and electro\npop. \n  \n>>>> TICKETS <<<<

SUMMARY:Please Please You & Brudenell Presents... The Klittens
DESCRIPTION:This five piece combines their love for pop music and dark sentiments with a punk ethos. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists – such as The Ronettes\, MF Doom\, Dry Cleaning and Kate Bush – they’ve crafted a sound that’s truly and twistedly their own. \n\nWhat initially began as an outlet\, both creatively and politically\, mutated into a musical life mission for its members. Their DIY approach\, from songwriting to releasing music and tour management\, is what makes The Klittens the ragtag bunch of misfits they are. The band consists of Yaël Dekker (vocals)\, Winnie Conradi (guitar)\, Katja Kahana (guitar)\, Marrit Meinema (bass guitar)\, and Laurie Zantinge (drums). \n\nfacebook // instagram\n£12adv \n>>>> TICKETS <<<<

SUMMARY:Seven by Seven
DESCRIPTION:Seven by Seven is a friendly open decks vinyl playing session. You can bring along and play us seven of your 7” 45rpm vinyl singles – hence Seven by Seven – or just come and listen to others play. The 7” 45rpm format is the only limitation. We don’t dictate the type of music – you can play whatever you want to\, and we relish that variety!\n\n\n\nNo DJ skills are needed\, and our ethos is – no pressure\, no competition\, no egos.\n\n\n\nPlease get there early to put your name down. We draw names out for the running order and later arrivals may be too late to be drawn. We also sometimes reduce the number of records that some people can play if we have high numbers attending – but we do try to fit in as many seven record sets as possible.\n\n\n\nSeven by Seven is a non-commercial operation. We run our sessions purely for the joy of playing and listening to records as a shared experience.

SUMMARY:Leeds Palestinian Film Festival & Vandal Factory present: Leyla Barakat & Ace Ambrose
DESCRIPTION:A live recording of the Vandal Factory podcast\, featuring two incredible artists performing in Leeds for the first time. Hosted by poet Henry Raby and theatre-maker Natalie Quatermass. \nLeyla Barakat is a Palestinian-Bulgartian poet and actor based in Manchester. Her work largely stems from discovering her mixed race identity and continental interlinks. Exploring themes of trauma and duty in generational relationships\, entanglement of art and politics\, global and personal conflict via survival and immigration. She often works with Comma Press showcasing their ‘Voices of resilience’ Diaries and poetry from Gaza\, has been published in MSJI’s anthology “Dignity” and was in we.merry.dancers’ debut play of “The Fire Raisers”. Leyla is performing an original theatre script of her new short play ‘Build in memories’ with a side of known poems. \nAce Ambrose aka the Pali Punk is a Eurasian-Palestinian poet and protest singer based in the West Midlands as well as C.O.O and Co-Founder of Branches Of The Levant – an independent boots on the ground aid initiative based in North Gaza. With a passion for storytelling and a flair for the dramatic influenced by her love of musical theatre\, glam rock and nerd culture\, Ace brings the concepts and characters of her imagination to life through their soundtracks. Ace combines her artistry with philanthropy\, telling stories through their soundtracks and donating all proceeds to marginalized communities. Her upcoming EP ‘Hope Amongst The Horror’ is a self produced collection of protest songs about resistance\, hope\, liberation and identity – giving insight on her personal experience as a daughter of immigrants growing up in the diaspora and fighting for the freedom of her people and homeland from afar. \nTickets are £5\, £10\, £15 or £20. SUMMARY:Fergus Quill Plays Xero Slingsby + Christie/Chan Duo
DESCRIPTION:Tonight\, bandleader/bass player Fergus Quill presents his musical tribute to the original Leeds alt-jazz pioneer Xero Slingsby\, and his band The Works. In the week of Xero’s 69th birthday\, Fergus and his quintet will be playing music from their 2023 album “Up Yours! Fergus Quill Plays Xero Slingsby”\, a selection of reimagined music from the two albums Xero released in the mid-1980s\, a few years before he sadly died from a brain tumour. Alto saxophonist Xero Slingsby (real name Matthew Coe)\, was heavily involved in the local jazz and experimental music scenes in Leeds from the late 1970s onwards. With his band The Works (bass player Louis Colan and drummer Gene Velocette)\, he blazed a trail of wild jazz with punk attitude and quirky English comedic wit across the UK and northern Europe\, releasing two LPs before he passed away aged only 31 years old. That same spirit Xero had is still present in the Leeds DIY alt-jazz scene with musicians and bands like Fergus Quill Trio\, Vipertime\, Yoshizawa\, Teruki Chan\, Nikka Ticciati\, Amon Ra Collective and Harvey Parkin-Christie. Support for this show are barbarian jazz exponents the Christie/Chan Duo (Teruki Chan drums and Harvey Parkin-Christie tenor sax). \nThis show is financially supported by Jazz North and their New Northern promoter bursary award. \nTickets: https://www.seetickets.com/event/fergus-quill-plays-xero-slingsby-christie-chan-duo/wharf-chambers/3709482

SUMMARY:EASTFIELD / GEOFFREY OI!COTT / INDIGNATION MEETING
DESCRIPTION:Come and help us celebrate a series of anniversaries – Indignation Meeting are five years old\, Geoffrey Oi!Cott are 20 and Eastfield are 30 – that’s 55 years of combined experience\, blimey! You’d think one of them would have found that elusive fourth chord by now.. So\, expect an afternoon of DIY singalong punk with railways\, cricket\, beer\, trains and a bit more punk thrown in. We’ll have a special one-off cask beer brewed specially for the occasion\, and delicious vegan food available on the day. \nEASTFIELD \n.. have been playing 3 chord\, sing-a-long\, simple catchy songs for 30 years now\, proudly practising the DIY ethic. Lyrically\, they punctuate socio-political comment with associated references from the world of railways\, adverts\, railways\,1970’s TV programmes\, railways\, first-hand experiences and railways\, making sure it always remains relevant – or not. That’s what it says on their website anyway\, and who are we to argue? \nGEOFFREY OI!COTT\n\n.. made their debut for Yorkshire at the Fenton in December 2006\, so they’ve been shouting about cricket for twenty years now – owzat! They’re outnumbered by the railway punks for this one but we’re sure they can rise to the occasion and knock us for six. New EP Chin Music and compilation CD ‘t20 – Singles\, Extras and Leg Byes’ both available now.\n\nINDIGNATION MEETING\n\nConceived by singer/drummer/songwriter Peter Hirst when he was just ten years old\, Indignation Meeting’s first gig was November 2021\, so we’re celebrating the fifth anniversary of their melodic punky songs reflecting Peter’s passion for railways\, trains\, social justice and teddies. Peter is joined by his Dad Michael on green guitar\, fellow middle-aged punk Keith on black guitar and former Bloodstock poster boy Hugo on bass\, with Peter’s mum Sally & sister Heather providing extra backing vocals. They recorded their third album earlier this year – details to follow soon(ish).\n\nfacebook\n>>>> TICKETS <<<<
